This is where we bought our dairy goats about 4 years ago. They sell raw and pasteurized goat milk, yogurt, cheese, and soap. There's not really a tour, but you can sit on the bench by the honor store and watch the goats chewing their cuds. It's anachronistic to see a working dairy farm right off Redwood Road, but certainly a welcome respite. I know from experience that their milk makes terrific chevre.

Beehive Cheese Company
The first profile I'll do is the Beehive Cheese Company, because I am a cheese nerdlinger and also because I've met Pat and Tim, the men behind the press, and they are terribly nice and enthused about what they do.
I first discovered their cheese when my sister gave me a gift bag with Promontory Cheddar and a set of cheese knives for my birthday three years ago. Then I found their Barely Buzzed at The Good Earth in Riverdale and became a fawning groupie. They make great, creative cheeses with a strong sense of place, and they are happy to give tours of their facility to anyone who asks. You can also volunteer to go help with the cheesemaking, which I did recently with my sister-in-law. I dabble in home cheesemaking, so it was enjoyable to see the process on such a grand scale--although they are quite small compared to many cheesemakers.

mission statement
Have you ever thought to yourself, "Gosh, I'd eat and drink a lot more if only I knew how to go about doing it!"?
Well, that's where we come in. Utah has a lot to offer in the way of comestibles and libations, and we want to give them their due. Eventually we will have an illustrated map of all the great little spots where you can go see your groceries being produced and purveyed.
What we have so far are these:
Rockhill Creamery
Beehive Cheese Co.
Drake Family Farms
Salt Lake Brewing Company (Squatters)
Utah's Famous Fruit Way (the stretch of Highway 89 that runs from Brigham City to Willard, and during harvest season has the best peaches you will ever eat, SUCK IT, GEORGIA)
The list will grow as we find more sources. We'll also include vendors that offer a good variety of local food and drink, like Caputo's and Liberty Heights Fresh.
